Museum of the Broads curator Nicola Hems fills us in on what’s happening at the museum – and shares some fabulous pictures of a most elegant group of holidaymakers.
Although the Museum remains closed until July at the earliest, you can still visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, or check out behind the scenes videos on YouTube. Have you tried our weekly Facebook quiz, “Where am I?”, on a Saturday yet? Just search for MuseumBroads.
We have applied for a grant for an exciting new digital project which will create a virtual museum and re-imagine 10 items as easy makes for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully we will be successful and can start this soon.
The museum receives no government funding and we normally raise our own income through visitor admissions and boat trips. This means that, like many others, we have little money coming in right now.
If you are able to help the museum survive this crisis and continue to bring the story of the Broads alive, then please see our website or visit our Just Giving Page for more information. Thank you from all of us.
In the meantime, whilst holidays are a distant memory right now, we hope you enjoy some of these photos, taken from an album dated 1910, when Cyril Catchpole and his friends enjoyed a boating holiday on the Broads. It will be on display in our Wish You Were Here Holidays exhibition this year.
Check our website for up to date information. Stay safe, and we hope to welcome you to Stalham again soon!
