Heroes are rewarded

Broadland District Council held a ceremony last Friday to present certificates and flowers to the winners of their covid community heroes awards.

People were invited to nominate others for the awards which were designed to recognise those who had gone the extra mile to help others during the pandemic.

Carol Pennycook; Lorraine Saunders, of Dawn’s New Horizon; Krissie Stone and Clare Lincoln with their awards.

Among the recipients were four people and groups from Sprowston including Clare Lincoln, of the Sprowston Youth Engagement Project, who has kept activities for young people running online; Dawn’s New Horizon, a shop and organisation to help those who suffer from domestic abuse which provided food parcels for those in need; Krissie Stone, who has been cleaning up the streets and signs on her daily walk; and Carol Pennycook, of the Sprowston Coronavirus Help Group, who made sure vulnerable people were looked after and anyone who needed help had somewhere to turn.

There are others – please let us know so we can include as many as possible in the next Just Sprowston magazine.
